An influential big work in 2015

I sincerely had no idea on what could be the Best Work in 2015 on our topic, on the Street Art. Millions of artists come up everyday from all over the world; and with them new art. But I have finally make a decision.

It all goes back to three years ago, when I lived in Rockford, Michigan (U.S) for an entire course. While I live there, I had the great opportunity to experience ArtPrize. And you will probably ask yourself "What the heck is that? I've never heard of it!". I was clueless by that time, but when my host mom took me downtown Grand Rapids, a city just 15 miles away from where I was living, I started realizing what was all that about. To give you a simple idea: it is an open international art competition. You are probably asking yourself: but isn't this a blog about random art in the streets? Yes, it totally is. Because the content of this event is tremendous, it has such breathtaking pieces of art, all different, diverse ones from others. It is placed some in the streets, in the sky, in a fountain, afloat, in a closed space... You are able to see two-dimensional art; three-dimensional; in movement; installations; ones that interacts with the audience... The variety is so massive that not too many people gets to observe each of this marvelous pieces exposed in the competition. -What a shame!-

Well, and finally, I will get to the point. You want to see cool stuff right? For Facebook users, you can also check the page.

The first reaction you will have to see this I'm sure it will be... This is not art. But if it is part of one of the biggest international art competition, there has to be a reason.
'Whisper', Emily Kennerk

Music is part of our lives, and Matthew L. Fisher created an original composition about the four seasons. He has such a great hear! You can link above to listen to his musical work.

Other music compositions as the Symphony of Gestures. Quoting from Sarah Schultz referring to the influence in people: "I loved that the public voted for this because if ever there was a beleaguered medium, it's contemporary classical music" .

Judith Braun did such an elegant work capturing an ordinary image with his fingerprints fully dipped in charcoal, in an extraordinary art piece: 'As Above'

Last, but not least, I wanted to show you a gigantic project that really surprised those who attended to this performance of art. I am talking about 'res345'. It's not a painted wall or a music composition, is more than that! Curious?

I would really post more and more art pieces of this competition, but my duty is to get brief but thick information. But don't you worry, you are able to discover all of the magic of ArtPrize in their web and in also might help you this Youtube channel.
And there is more... I'm sure you liked ArtPrize that much that you are truly interested on looking for past years art creations. I can give you a hand with that! In case, my own hand, photographs taken by myself three years ago, in 2012.
To leave you with the best taste, here goes a great summarizing video of ArtPrize 2015:

Hope you enjoyed it!

Grand Rapids ArtPrize, for sure a place to go and an event to not miss! Fun and awe-inspiring is assured!
